Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med-Surg Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The Med-Surg Neuro RN provides specialized care for patients with neurological conditions, post-surgical recovery needs, and general medical-surgical conditions. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological disorders, including stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, seizures, and post-neurosurgical care.
- Monitor neurological status and perform frequent assessments, including Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), pupillary reactions, and motor/sensory function.
- Administer medications, including anticoagulants, antiepileptics, and pain management therapies.
- Manage IV lines, wound care, drains, and telemetry monitoring as needed.
- Recognize and respond to neurological changes and emergencies, such as stroke or increased intracranial pressure.
- Assist with rehabilitation plans and collaborate with physical, occupational, and speech therapists.
- Educate patients and families on stroke prevention, post-operative care, and medication adherence.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital protocols at all times.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Requirements:
· 1 year of Acute Care RN experience Required
· Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida , Multistate or able to obtain licensure prior to start is required
· Nursing Diploma or ASN; BSN preferred.
· BLS, (AHA Healthcare provider) required prior to start
· NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Compensation: $27.72 - $39.60 per hour
