Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to lead and oversee the HIM department in Mayfield, KY. This leadership role ensures the efficient operation of health information services, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the integrity of patient data. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset and a commitment to excellence in managing health information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures for the HIM department to ensure accurate and timely management of patient records.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations, including HIPAA and other privacy standards.
  • Manage and supervise HIM staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures for billing and reimbursement purposes.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental performance metrics, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor on issues related to health information management and privacy.
  • Prepare and manage the department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Stay updated on advancements in health information technologies and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Active Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in health information management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIM systems, coding standards, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and health information technologies.
