Job Description: IV/PICC Registered Nurse – Margate, FL
Responsibilities:
- Perform the insertion and management of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and other vascular access devices, ensuring proper placement and patient safety.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the most appropriate vascular access device, considering factors such as the type of medication, duration of therapy, and patient condition.
- Educate patients and their families on PICC line care, including how to prevent complications such as infections or blockages, and provide instructions for home care when applicable.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, ensuring that vascular access procedures align with the overall treatment plan.
- Monitor and manage PICC lines and other vascular access devices, troubleshooting issues such as occlusions or malposition and ensuring timely intervention.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all vascular access procedures, patient assessments, and follow-up care, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certification (VA-BC) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in vascular access or infusion nursing, with specific experience in PICC line insertion and management.
- Proficient in the use of ultrasound guidance for PICC line insertion and other vascular access procedures.
- Excellent communication, patient education, and critical thinking skills, with a commitment to providing patient-centered care and ensuring the safety and comfort of all patients.
