Job Description: Vascular Technologist
Responsibilities:
- Perform non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound and Doppler studies, to assess blood flow, detect vascular abnormalities, and assist in diagnosing conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, peripheral artery disease, and aneurysms.
- Prepare patients for vascular exams by explaining the procedure, positioning them correctly, and applying the necessary ultrasound gel or equipment.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated imaging equipment, ensuring accurate and high-quality images and recordings that meet diagnostic standards.
- Analyze and interpret test results, providing preliminary findings to physicians and assisting in the formulation of treatment plans.
- Document and maintain accurate patient records, including test results, patient history, and any observations made during the procedure, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols.
- Collaborate with vascular surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care and treatment planning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Vascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Active certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in vascular technology or diagnostic medical sonography.
- Proficient in the use of vascular ultrasound equipment and techniques, with a strong understanding of vascular anatomy and pathology.
- Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills, with the ability to accurately assess and interpret complex vascular conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing patient-centered care and collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
